This is what a little paint and some updated flooring can do.It was a lot of hard work and I can’t say I would want to do it again. Laying your own wood flooring and carpet is a back breaking job, but well worth it in the end. This house was built in 1939. The blue gray carpet and red walls did not compliment each other.
It has great bones, but the carpet was old and stained. We hoped that we could reclaim the original hardwood flooring underneath the carpet, but unfortunately there was some damage to it. The living room we decided to paint two walls neutral and the opposing walls a red/terra cotta color. The rock work really stands out now.
So, we found this awesome wholesale price flooring company online and got the solid wood and carpet for a steal. Saved ourselves thousands of dollars purchasing this way and doing the install ourselves. The green on all the walls including the dining room made it much darker.
The floors really open up the space between the dining room and den. And lighter green color made it brighter.
Carpet and a fresh coat of paint in the bedrooms was the next challenge.
I have never laid down carpet flooring before and thought it might be easier than the hardwood flooring…oh how I was sorely mistaken.
The house looks beautiful!! Great job!!!
